U.S. Accuses Iran of Ceasefire Violations as Deadline Nears

U.S. President Donald Trump has accused Iran of repeatedly violating a ceasefire with the United States, as a two-week truce nears its expiration.

“Iran has violated the ceasefire numerous times!” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social on Tuesday, without providing further details.

The U.S. president had earlier said an extension of the truce was “very unlikely” if no agreement is reached with Tehran before it expires.

He said the ceasefire is due to end on Wednesday evening Washington time, which would fall in the early hours of Thursday in Iran due to the time difference.

The prospect of another round of negotiations remains uncertain. Trump said on Sunday he would send another delegation for negotiations to Islamabad, led by Vice President JD Vance, but it is unclear whether the talks will take place.

Iran has not yet sent any representatives to Pakistan, according to state television. Neither the experts for preliminary discussions nor the main delegation have travelled to Islamabad, the report said.

A key sticking point remains the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ships and ports.

Trump has said the blockade will remain in place until an agreement is reached, while Tehran has tied its participation in talks to its removal, according to Pakistani security sources.
