    Market Cap of Unlisted Stocks Trading on NASD Rises to N1.02trn

    The market capitalisation of unlisted companies’ stock rises to N1.02 trillion last week amidst an increase in demand on the NASD over-the-counter platform. The increase recorded was driven by investors’ demand for Niger Delta Exploration and Production as well as Friesland Campina shares.

    Year to date, NASD OTC Securities Exchange ended in positive territory as the market recorded an increase in performance, according to trading data, returns increased by 4.20%.

    Last week, the total volume traded from the beginning of the year to date was printed at 3,185,146,339 units in 1,484 deals and the total value traded settled at ₦21,291,269,635.29.

    Trading data shows that NASD OTC Securities Exchange Index closed the week with a positive movement on the NSI due to price appreciation in the market for unlisted stocks.  Specifically, the NSI return increased by 0.75% to close the week at 774.03 points against 768.27 in the prior week.

    On Friday’s close, investors gain ₦0.01 trillion in value, thus the gain drove NASD OTC market capitalisation to ₦1.02 trillion from ₦1.01 Trillion as a result of positive movement in prices.

    According to market data, there was 89.53% decrease in the total value traded last week as investors’ trading book settled lower at ₦33,951,566.75 compared to ₦324,371,556.96 in the previous week.  Then, total trade activity for the year was valued at ₦21,291,269,635.29.

    ON Friday, the total volume traded cleared at 942,570 units compared to 2,607,342 units in the previous week leading to a 63.85% decrease in trade volume. Meanwhile, the total volume traded for the year settled at 3,185,146,339 units. READ: NASD Tumbles over Massive Selloffs in Unlisted Stocks

    Food Concepts PLC ranking top among the five most traded securities by volume and Friesland Campina Wamco Nigeria PLC was the fifth most traded stock by volume traded in the week. Niger Delta Exploration & Production PLC ranking top among the five most traded securities by value and NASD PLC stood as the fifth most traded Security by value for the week.

    NASD PLC, which currently holds a market capitalisation of ₦8.06 billion closed the week at ₦16.50 representing a 20.60 per cent increase from the previous close of ₦13.68. Niger Delta Exploration & Production PLC, which currently holds a market capitalisation of ₦38.09 billion closed the week at ₦210.00 representing a 6.06 per cent increase from the previous close of ₦198.00.

    Friesland Campina Wamco Nigeria PLC, which currently holds a market capitalisation of ₦199.17 billion closed the week at ₦102.00 representing a 3.28 per cent increase from the previous close of ₦98.76. Food Concepts PLC, which currently holds a market capitalisation of ₦5.55 billion closed the week at ₦0.95 representing a 5.00 per cent decrease from the previous close of ₦1.00.
