    FirstHoldCo Soars by 39% or N1.216trn in Pre-Earnings Bets

    First Holdco gained about 39% in the stock market, breaking support to hit a new high on the Nigerian Exchange as investors placed pre-earnings bets on the financial services stock.

    The robust buying action was primarily driven by sentiment as First Holdco plans to raise additional capital to meet regulatory compliance.

    One thing is clear: the huge trading signal is that strategic investors entered positions at a low price. First Holdco had been trading at a significant discount below its previous 52-week high.

    According to its trading data from the Nigerian Exchange, the non-operating company’s share price edged higher to N95.95 at the close of the trading session on Friday, driven by a significant surge in trading volume, from N69.20 at the beginning of the week.

    Trading activities were significant over the last four days, reflecting strong portfolio building ahead of the first half of 2026 earnings release.  First Holdco accounted for about half of the transactions on the Nigerian bourse on Friday, by both volume and value, and was the best-performing stock.

    In the figures, investors traded 225.912 million units of the Group’s outstanding shares valued at N20.962 billion, according to trading data tracked by MarketForces Africa.  

    First Holdco topped the volume drivers on NGX, accounting for 32.97% of all companies’ units traded on Friday, followed by Guinea Insurance (7.79%), Zenith Bank (6.06%), Access Holdings (4.25%), and UBA (4.02%).

    Also, First Holdco topped the value chart, accounting for 49.24% of total transaction value, making it the most actively traded on the exchange.

    The ticker also topped the gainers chart on Friday, up by +9.97%, trailed by HMCALL (+9.94%), LIVINGTRUST (+9.73%), WAPIC (+7.44%), LASACO (+5.26%), THOMASWY (+5.10%), and twenty-seven others.

    The stock market value of First Holdco Plc, with 45.475 million outstanding shares, soared by 38.65% week on week to N4.363 trillion – its highest in the last 52 weeks.   The market anticipates earnings release to boost momentum ahead of capital adequacy compliance.
