XRP Price Hits $1.40, Posting 40% Gain in 5 Days

XRP is up 6.56% to $1.40, slightly outperforming Bitcoin’s 6.46% gain, primarily driven by regulatory optimism and aggressive whale accumulation.

With a 40% gain since the week began, the token’s positive price performance is part of a broader market surge fueled by pro-crypto political signals and liquidity measures.

A key driver of the momentum was renewed regulatory optimism, specifically President Trump’s public endorsement of the Clarity Act, which could pave the way for XRP ETFs.

On August 20, President Donald Trump publicly urged Congress to pass the Clarity Act, a key digital asset market-structure bill, in the presence of Ripple’s CEO.

This signals reduced regulatory risk and renews hopes for a U.S. XRP ETF, directly addressing a long-standing overhang on the asset. The move is a sentiment-driven reaction to a potential macro shift in U.S. crypto policy, not just a technical trading move.

Large investors have been aggressively accumulating XRP. Data shows addresses holding 1–10 million XRP bought approximately 380 million tokens in the week leading up to the rally, increasing their holdings by roughly $400 million.

This coincided with Binance’s open interest reaching a two-month high, indicating leveraged positioning alongside spot buying. Smart money is positioning ahead of the regulatory catalyst, providing a foundation of demand.

The immediate technical structure is bullish but extended. XRP faces resistance near its recent high of $1.42. Key support is the 50% Fibonacci retracement level at $1.29, aligning with the 7-day moving average.

The 24-hour volume spike of 56.78% confirms strong participation.

The trend is upward, but the rally is maturing and vulnerable to profit-taking if the regulatory narrative stalls. A daily close above $1.42 to confirm continuation, or a break below $1.29 to signal a deeper correction.

The combination of a potent regulatory catalyst and confirmed whale buying has propelled XRP higher within a strong broader market Binance Coin Climbs 5.5% as BNB Trading Volume Spikes
