XRP Jumps 16% as Ripple, Clearpool, Cicada Credit Launch Lending Platform

Ripple (XRP) price is up about 16% to $1.23, outperforming a strong market rally, driven primarily by a major partnership announcement for institutional lending on the XRP Ledger.

A strategic partnership between Ripple, Clearpool, and Cicada Credit to build an institutional lending platform on the XRP Ledger boosted optimism on Thursday.

The rally was amplified by a short squeeze, with over $1.5 billion in crypto liquidations. Concurrently, on-chain data from Ali Charts showed whales accumulating more than 300 million XRP over four days, signalling renewed institutional interest.

With about $7.4 billion in transaction value over the last 24 hours, XRP has seen a sharp increase in trading volume. Data from a crypto exchange showed that the token trading volume has increased by over 260%, with retail and institutional investors returning to take positions.

Today, Ripple, Clearpool, and Cicada Credit announced a collaboration to develop a native institutional lending platform on the XRP Ledger.

The platform would leverage the proposed protocol amendments (XLS-65 and XLS-66), thereby directly increasing XRP’s utility in real-world finance. This is a concrete step toward institutional adoption, validating XRP’s use beyond payments and sparking speculative demand.

The loans to investors will be denominated in Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin and will target fintechs, payment firms, and crypto service providers that need working capital.

Clearpool will provide the lending infrastructure, Cicada will handle credit underwriting and loan servicing, and Ripple will invest capital alongside other institutions.

This initiative aims to expand productive onchain credit beyond typical DeFi yield mechanisms and is currently in testing and community voting phases on XRPL.

Boosted by macro tailwinds, the entire crypto market surged, with total capitalisation up 6.02% in 24h. The rally was triggered by the U.S. Treasury’s plan to double long-term bond buybacks, which lowered yields and boosted risk assets.

Concurrently, on-chain data shows whales purchased over 300 million XRP in the days leading up to the rally, providing underlying buying pressure.

XRP benefited from a powerful macro tailwind and pre-positioning by large investors, amplifying the move. Sustained ETF inflows and Bitcoin’s ability to hold above $70,000, which would support continued altcoin strength.

The immediate trend is bullish but extended. The key support zone is $1.15 (the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement level from the recent swing). Holding above this level suggests momentum toward the next resistance at $1.30.

The rally needs to consolidate; a sharp rejection at current levels could lead to a quick correction. Traders are watching price action around $1.15 and news flow regarding the U.S. Senate vote on the CLARITY Act, now scheduled for mid-September.

The combination of a high-impact partnership and favourable macro conditions has propelled XRP sharply higher, though the move is now testing overbought territory.
