TAO Surges on Mentat Lend Money Market for Subnet Tokens Launch

Bittensor (TAO) price inched up 4.96% to $207.09, significantly outperforming a nearly flat Bitcoin, primarily driven by accelerating ecosystem activity and bullish social sentiment around network upgrades.

Renewed confidence in Bittensor’s subnet ecosystem and protocol upgrades, highlighted by growth to 128 active subnets and the launch of new DeFi primitives like MentatLend.

Mentat has launched Mentat Lend, a new money market built for Bittensor that lets TAO holders supply liquidity and lets Alpha holders borrow TAO without selling their subnet exposure.

The protocol’s first market is live for Score, Bittensor Subnet 44. According to Mentat Lend’s announcement, users can already deposit TAO to earn lending yield or post staked SN44 Alpha as collateral to borrow TAO.

The core argument behind Mentat Lend is that Bittensor already prices subnet ownership, but has not had a native way to price credit.

Analysts also point to upcoming upgrades focusing emissions on quality subnets. This suggests capital is flowing into the network based on utility growth, not just speculation.

A dominant narrative on social media framed TAO’s rise as a “fundamental re-rating” toward institutional infrastructure, citing factors like Grayscale fund weighting.

This narrative gained traction as price reclaimed and held above the $200 level with a 54% spike in trading volume. The combination of a positive story and a high-volume breakout helped fuel retail and algorithmic buying interest.

Whether trading volume sustains above its 7-day average to confirm continued interest. The immediate trend is bullish following the breakout. The key concrete level is $200 support. If buyers defend this level, the next major resistance to watch is near $225.

A breakdown below $200 could see a retest of lower support around $190. The short-term bias is positive but requires holding the recent gains.

The price rise is supported by tangible ecosystem development and reinforced by a shift in market narrative. However, sustaining momentum depends on holding key technical levels.
