Power Generation Utilisation Hits 81% in September-NERC

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) says Nigeria’s grid-connected power plants utilised an average of 81 per cent of available generation capacity in September.

The commission disclosed this in its September Operational Performance Fact sheet posted on its X handle in Abuja on Thursday.

According to the fact sheet, an average of 5,038 Megawatts (MW) was available for dispatch during the month of September.

The commission said that average hourly generation stood at 4,089MW, representing an average load factor of 81 per cent of the available generation capacity.

The report also highlighted the performance of individual power plants, with Kainji_1 recording the highest load factor at 98 per cent

It said that Afam_2 and Egbin_1 followed closely, with each recording a load factor of 94 per cent during the month in review.

The fact sheet also said that Top Energy Producers: Kainji_1, Afam_2, and Egbin_1 recorded high utilisation levels, with load factors of 98 per cent, 94 per cent, and 94 per cent, respectively.

NERC’s fact sheet provides an overview of the utilisation of Nigeria’s grid-connected generation fleet and the level of available capacity deployed for electricity generation during the period. #Power Generation Utilisation Hits 81% in September-NERC#  DisCos Meter 241,590 Customers in 2 Months –NERC
