NVIDIA Tokenised Stock Dips Amidst Surging Japanese Yen

NVIDIA Tokenised Stock (Robinhood) price fell about 1% in 24 hours to $224.10 on Wednesday, closely tracking a slight dip in the underlying Nvidia equity.

The move appears driven by broader macro pressures on AI stocks, specifically a strengthening yen prompting leveraged investors to unwind positions, rather than a coin-specific negative catalyst.

The tokenised stock’s price mirrors Nvidia’s Nasdaq-listed shares, which fell about 0.62%. The primary driver appears to be a surging Japanese yen, prompting a global unwind of the “carry trade,” where investors borrowed in yen to buy higher-yielding assets like AI stocks. Analysts note this can force selling in crowded winners like Nvidia regardless of fundamentals.

The dip is more about macro liquidity and positioning than a change in Nvidia’s business outlook, which recently saw a major infrastructure expansion in Indonesia.

Trading volume for the tokenised NVDA fell 12.78% to $49.3 million in 24h. Lower liquidity in the crypto wrapper can lead to slightly exaggerated moves compared to the traditional stock, especially during off-market hours.

The modest decline was likely amplified by thin markets, not a surge in selling pressure.

The key technical level is the $225.50 resistance zone, which NVDA failed to hold. Immediate support lies at $223.50. The broader catalyst is the yen’s strength; if it stabilises, AI stocks may find footing. Conversely, continued yen appreciation could prolong pressure.

The trend is neutral-to-bearish in the very short term, contingent on macro flows rather than token-specific news. The token’s dip reflects macro-driven selling in the underlying equity, compounded by thin liquidity in its crypto wrapper.

NVIDIA had spiked following its Q2 earnings release. Before it cooled off, the tokenised stock was propelled by blockbuster earnings, strategic acquisitions, and a central role in the AI revolution, and benefited from a crypto market rotation into on-chain equities.
