XRP Rises as US Treasury Launches $14.5bn Buyback

XRP is up 2.94% to $1.43 in the past 24 hours, significantly outperforming Bitcoin’s modest 0.53% gain. The move appears driven by sustained positive sentiment from its inclusion in the SEC/CFTC digital commodity classification narrative.

The token reacted positively to liquidity surge expectations as the U.S. Treasury plans $14.5 billion in buybacks this week: Sept. 9 cash-management buyback up to $12.5 billion (1M-2Y coupons) and Sept. 10 liquidity-support buyback up to $2 billion (10Y-20Y).

Treasury operations, ECB policy decisions, and auctions could add volatility; hotter inflation or a strong labor report may push yields and weigh on crypto, while softer prints could relieve pressure and boost risk appetite.

The price climbed on sustained narrative momentum from XRP’s established status as a regulated digital commodity, reinforcing investor confidence and attracting capital within a trending sector.

XRP continues to benefit from its formal classification as a digital commodity under the SEC/CFTC joint framework established in March 2026.

This regulatory clarity has reduced long-term legal overhang, making the asset more attractive to institutions and fuelling capital rotation into the “Digital Commodities” sector, which is currently the top-trending narrative.

The move is less about a new headline and more about the persistent re-rating of XRP within a cleaner regulatory environment, drawing steady inflows rather than speculative spikes.

Price action shows XRP holding above its 30-day average of $1.41 and 200-day average of $1.40, with the relative strength index at 65.66 indicating healthy momentum.

A 33.58% surge in volume confirms the move. This technical strength is supported by recent ecosystem progress, including RLUSD stablecoin growth and a record high for agentic transactions.

The price advance is supported by both chart structure and underlying utility growth, making the rally appear more sustainable than a pure sentiment pump.

A daily close above the Fibonacci 23.6% level at $1.43 would confirm the next leg higher.

The immediate path hinges on two concrete levels: holding $1.41 (30-day SMA) as support and breaking $1.45 (recent swing high).

The upcoming cloture vote on the CLARITY Act (September 15) is a tangible near-term event that could amplify regulatory optimism or introduce volatility.

The trend is cautiously bullish, but the lack of a fresh, high-impact catalyst means progress may be gradual and dependent on broader market sentiment.

The 24-hour gain reflects a combination of durable sector rotation into regulated digital commodities and XRP’s own technical strength, rather than a news-driven spike.
