Fidelity Bank Surges 15% on Improved Investors’ Sentiment, Confidence
Fidelity Bank Plc.’s share price increased by 15% as investors continue to bet on the Tier-2 lender’s future earnings stream and the expectation of sustained dividend payments.
The bargain hunting in the bank’s shares was driven by expectations of earnings growth following the redeployment of its new capital to boost its loan portfolio (loans to customers).
According to its most recent trading data from the Nigerian Exchange (NGX, Fidelity Bank’s share price climbed to N21.85 on Friday as 25.754 million units valued at N549.208 million exchanged hands in the market.
The bank experienced solid trading volume, primarily driven by buy-side actors seeking to boost their holdings ahead of the unaudited financial statement release for the first half of 2026.
Fidelity Bank experienced positive price movements throughout the week, supported by improved investor sentiment, opening at N19 and closing at N21.85 on Friday.
Stockbrokers said the expectation of better earnings performance and the potential for an interim dividend are key drivers of investor interest in the bank’s shares on the local bourse.
Broadstreet analysts maintained a buying recommendation for Fidelity Bank, citing strong earnings prospects following the financial institution’s successful recapitalisation in Q1 2026.
The stock market value of Fidelity Bank Plc.’s 63.174 billion outstanding shares edged higher by 15% to N1.380 trillion at the close of the trading session last week.
Fidelity Bank has recently rescheduled its annual general meeting, stating that the decision is intended to allow the Bank to finalise all necessary arrangements and ensure an optimal experience for shareholders and other stakeholders.
Analysts said the bank has continued to expand its balance sheet position amidst the Tier-1 bank target set by management. In financial year 2025, Fidelity Bank maintained steady growth and improved capital strength.
Total assets increased by 18.61% to N10.46 trillion from N8.82 trillion, supported by a 44.87% rise in investment securities to N2.63 trillion and a 29.66% increase in cash and cash equivalents to N2.97 trillion.
