Dangote Cement Loses N2.514 Trillion, Returns to 7-Day Low

Dangote Cement Plc lost over N2.514 trillion on Thursday as post-earnings buying momentum stalled, and its share price fell 10% on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX).

The share price fell to N1,341 as 1.919 million units were traded, primarily by sell-side investors, further pressuring the Group’s valuation. This downturn erased recent gains and signalled a sharp market correction, with the share price reaching a 7-day low.

The market value of Dangote Cement Plc’s 16.873 billion outstanding shares fell to N22.627 trillion from N25.141 trillion, despite strong 9M 2026 earnings.

    Dangote Cement Plc reported a 19.6% year-on-year revenue increase to N3.8 trillion in 9M 2026, up from N3.2 trillion in 9M 2025.

Higher sales volumes and pricing drove growth, with the Group’s average selling price rising 9.4% year-on-year to N170,493 per ton from N155,875.

Total sales volume increased 9.4% year-on-year to 22.1 million metric tons from 20.2 million metric tons in 9M 2025. Nigerian segment revenue grew 22.5% to N2.7 trillion from N2.2 trillion.

A 15.2% increase in average selling price to N189,017 per ton from N164,110, and a 6.4% rise in sales volumes to 14.1 million metric tons from 13.2 million metric tons, supported performance.

Management attributed growth to increased government infrastructure projects, housing development, and a stronger private-sector project pipeline.

    Pan-African operations recorded a 12.6% year-on-year revenue increase to N1.2 trillion in 9M 2026, up from N1.1 trillion.

Sales volumes rose 14.0% to 9.1 million metric tons from 7.9 million metric tons. However, average selling price declined to N131,430 per ton from N133,077, partially offsetting volume gains.

Increased government spending, infrastructure investments, service sector growth, moderating inflation, and more stable macroeconomic conditions supported regional volume expansion.

Profit Before Tax rose 41.5% year-on-year to N1.5 trillion in 9M 2026, up from N1.0 trillion. Net Income rose 31.2% to N974.8 billion from N743.3 billion. Earnings Per Share climbed to N58.37 from N43.82. Equities Investors Lose N3.28trn as Dangote Cement Tanks
