Basketball: Nigeria Customs Expresses Optimism to Win Championship

Captain of Nigeria Customs Service Men`s Basketball team, David Godwin, says he is optimistic that his team can win the ongoing Louis Edem Invitational Basketball Championships in Lagos.

Godwin said this in an interview after the team`s  72-69 victory over Police Baton in their second game of the competition.

“We have the confidence to reach the finals and win the competition.

“We know there are a lot of tough teams but with our strength and depth of quality players in our squad, we can achieve it.

“We don’t underestimate any team in the competition but we are confident that the competition is ours.

“We will continue to work hard as a team to achieve positive results,” he said.

In the same vein, Williams Malu, the Captain of Police Baton told NAN that the team would bounce back from the loss to Nigeria Customs.

“It is a tough game for us, we could have done better but we lost concentration in the last minutes of the game which cost us dearly.

“We are sure of bouncing back from the loss because we can do so, we just need to fine-tune our plans and game strategy,” Malu said.

Malu said that the competition was a great one and gave kudos to the organisers of the competition for keeping the players busy and active.

In other games played on the second day of the competition, Rivers Hoopers of Port Harcourt beat Braves of Revenue Authority of Ghana, 80-72. MMA: Nigeria’s Ukah Defeats Uganda’s Akello to Extend Unbeaten Record
