Real Madrid Faces Borussia Dortmund in Champion League Final

Real Madrid will face Borussia Dortmund in Champions League final today at Wembley.  After defeating Bayern Munich in the semifinals, Los Blancos may win their fifteenth European championship, while BVB is vying for a second trophy on what is probably the biggest stage in club football after defeating Kylian Mbappe and PSG in the last four.

Among the contenders for this year’s Ballon d’Or are Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr., who understand that victory here combined with a strong showing might tip the scales in favor of their team ahead of Euro 2024 and the Copa America this summer.

Although both teams have used variation to get to the championship game, they have occasionally relied on conventional No 9s in the form of Niclas Fullkrug and Joselu.

Carlo Ancelotti will be in the dugout trying to win his sixth Champions League as a coach, while Edin Terzić will be trying to finish his legendary journey with his boyhood club from the Yellow Wall to the pinnacle of European football.

Real Madrid are the leading favourites to win their 15th Champions League trophy, but Borussia Dortmund should not be underestimated, considering the importance of the final. The Spanish giants, thanks to the work of Carlo Ancelotti, can make history at Wembley and this is what I expect to happen.

Champions League final programme for the 18th time on Saturday, and only three of Los Blancos’ previous 17 appearances in the trophy match have ended in heartbreak.

In fact, it has been a staggering 43 years since the Spanish behemoths came out second best in the showpiece, and since that crushing loss versus Liverpool in 1981, Real Madrid have triumphed in each of the last eight Champions League finals in which they have been present.

Extending that phenomenal sequence would seal a terrific treble of trophies for the reigning La Liga and Supercopa de Espana champions, who may have concluded the regular top-flight campaign by dropping four points against Villarreal and Real Betis, but little sleep should be lost over those two stalemates.

Unbeaten in 25 straight matches since January’s Copa del Rey beating at the hands of Atletico, Ancelotti’s men have also found the net in every single one of their fixtures away from their Bernabeu base in the 2023-24 season, another promising omen ahead of Saturday’s European extravaganza. #Real Madrid Faces Borussia Dortmund in Champion League Final
