Yellow Card Pushes for Crypto Awareness, Adoption

Yellow Card, a Pan African cryptocurrency exchange platform, says it has intensified efforts in raising more awareness around crypto education to accelerate its adoption.

Rachael Akalia, Yellow Card’s Regional Marketing Manager for West Africa made this known at a news conference organised in Lagos to address the media on its “A Whole in your Wallet – One Whole BTC” campaign.

The campaign, which ran from February to April, aimed to give Yellow Card users a soft landing, following a rollercoaster in 2022 and a prolonged bear market in 2023.

Users were encouraged to make transactions worth of at least, 10 dollars daily on the platform to stand a chance of winning the grand prize of one whole Bitcoin (30,000 dollars) or 250 dollar worth of cryptocurrency every week.

She said the platform was promoting financial inclusion, adding that they believed everyone should have access to financial freedom.

Akalia said the “A Whole in Your Wallet” campaign was part of Yellow Card’s commitment to building a community of crypto enthusiasts and assisting them in reaching their financial goals.

She noted that in spite of the bearish predictions people were seeing about the crypto, there was a lot of potential in the market.

Akalia said Cryptocurrency was getting back into the news for positive outcomes and they were seeing a bullish momentum in the market.

“To further push the adoption of Crypto in Africa and facilitate cross-border payments using Cryptocurrencies, we partnered with Block – a publicly traded company behind the popular payment apps Cash App and Square, co-founded by Jack Dorsey, the former Chief Executive Officer of Twitter.

“This partnership is an effort to bring more financial inclusion to African countries.

“With Yellow Card’s extensive network in Africa and Block’s expertise in payments and cryptocurrency, the two companies aim to provide users with a seamless and secure way to transfer funds across borders, “Akalia said.

Speaking on the winner of the campaign, she said the grand prize was given to a young Nigerian named Julian Oti, who had received one Bitcoin, currently valued at 30,000 dollars.

Akalia said that Oti was selected via a transparent lucky draw format that was witnessed and audited by an independent legal partner, Legalese.

Commenting on his journey on “A Whole in your Wallet Campaign”, Julian Oti said: I was attracted by the platform’s trading rates and its user friendliness.

Oti said that in March, after getting a push notification from Yellow Card about the campaign, he decided to participate in the competition.

Oti said he increased the frequency of his transactions on the platform and was surprised when they announced him as the winner at the end of the campaign.

On his plans for the one BTC, Julian explained that he would utilise part of the prize money to take care of personal needs, while he would re-invest the rest in trading digital assets. # Yellow Card Pushes for Crypto Awareness, Adoption
