XRP Price Drops as CLARITY Act Splits U.S. SEC, CFTC Oversight

Ripple (XRP) price is down 1.66% to $1.12, underperforming a slightly weaker broader market, primarily driven by a lack of immediate catalysts amid lingering regulatory uncertainty.

XRP moved in tandem with a cautious crypto market. Bitcoin declined 0.94% as investors weighed macroeconomic pressures, including the 30-year U.S. Treasury yield holding above 5% on Thursday.

The token price move was more about general market sentiment than a specific issue. XRP’s 7-day Relative Strength Index reached 69.07, nearing overbought conditions, after a rally to a two-week high of $1.16 on July 21.

The current price sits below the daily pivot point of $1.14, indicating near-term bearish bias. The 24-hour trading volume fell 27.87%, suggesting the decline lacks high selling conviction.

The drop reflects a natural cooling-off period after a local peak, not a breakdown. A reclaim of the $1.14 level would shift short-term momentum back to neutral.

The immediate path hinges on the $1.10–$1.14 range. A hold above $1.10 could see a retest of $1.14 resistance, with a breakout targeting $1.21.

The major near-term catalyst is the U.S. Senate’s August 7 deadline for the CLARITY Act, which would provide regulatory clarity.

The full text of the latest version of the CLARITY Act, a comprehensive U.S. crypto market structure bill, was released. It proposes dividing oversight: the SEC would regulate tokens tied to centralised teams, while the CFTC would oversee sufficiently decentralised networks as digital commodities.

The bill includes strong consumer protections, such as safeguarding customer assets in bankruptcy. This is bullish for XRP because it provides a legislative path to cement the regulatory clarity XRP already gained from its court victory.

Clear federal rules could reduce long-term uncertainty and encourage broader institutional adoption. Failure to pass could extend sideways trading.

The outlook is range-bound with a bullish bias conditional on regulatory progress. The 24h dip is a combination of macro-driven market softness and a technical cooldown, not a fundamental deterioration. XRP Investors Positive on ETF Momentum, Ripple Deals
