XRP Market Capitalisation Hits $100bn Vs. Ripple’s Valuation

Ripple XRP hits $100 billion in market cap on Wednesday as debate over a $1,000 target resurfaces after the Ripple chief executive officer’s ambitious $10 trillion valuation projection.

XRP is up 4.40% to $1.60 in 24h, significantly outperforming a nearly flat Bitcoin (+0.05%) and the broader crypto market, primarily driven by capital rotating into altcoins.

A 20% spike in trading volume nudged the token’s transaction value to about $8 billion.  The rally sparked discussion across crypto market communities about the possibility of XRP meeting stakeholders’ ambitious price targets.

The $1,000 XRP projection resurfaced on social media, with Crypto in America host Eleanor Terrett noting the renewed discussion and EasyA co-founder Dom Kwok writing that “$1,000 is more likely than ever.”

Jake Claver, chairman of Digital Ascension Group, said he would watch the prediction given Kwok’s credentials. XRP was trading around $1.60, implying a market cap of about $100.7 billion based on a circulating supply of about 63 billion.

Reaching $1,000 would require roughly a 62,400% rise and imply a market capitalisation near $63 trillion, according to crypto market analysts

The four-figure idea has critics: analyst ChartNerd called it hype, while XRPL dUNL validator Vet urged investors to focus on on-chain adoption of XRPL in traditional finance rather than eye-catching price targets.

Recently on X Spaces, former Ripple CTO David Schwartz said $XRP could one day overtake Bitcoin if XRP grows faster than Bitcoin. “I think it wouldn’t happen from Bitcoin shrinking.

It would happen from XRP growing faster than Bitcoin,” he said, adding he expects the digital-asset market to expand and that the XRP Ledger could capture more growth “because of its higher functionality and/or higher speed,” with users gravitating toward features “that Bitcoin can’t support.”

He also said, “I honestly have to say, I think $XRP surging is probably more likely than not. XRP surpassed Ethereum in late December 2017, when its market cap reached about $87 billion, compared with Ethereum’s roughly $72 billion.

While the gap remains large, XRP’s history shows it has made significant market-cap gains.

The primary driver of XRP’s latest rally appears to be a market-wide rotation of capital into altcoins. Altcoin Season Index has surged 54.55% over the past week to a reading of 51, indicating a strong shift in sentiment and funds toward higher-beta assets like XRP.

XRP is rising not on its own news, but as a beneficiary of a broader “risk-on” move within crypto, where investors seek outperformance beyond Bitcoin.

The token’s move comes with an 8.57% increase in 24-hour trading volume to $7.67 billion, confirming buyer conviction. The coin has broken out from a multi-week consolidation, posting a 24.52% gain over seven days.

The price action suggests accumulating buying pressure is overcoming selling resistance, providing technical validation for the uptrend.

With no major coin-specific catalyst visible, the near-term path is tied to broader altcoin momentum and key technical levels. The immediate trigger is whether the Altcoin Season Index continues to climb.

If XRP holds above the $1.55 support (previous resistance), the next target is the $1.70 level. A break below $1.55 would signal weakening momentum and risk a drop toward $1.45.

The bias is cautiously bullish within a defined range, contingent on holding recent gains. A decisive daily close above $1.65 would confirm strength toward $1.70.

XRP’s rise is fuelled by rotational flows into altcoins, amplified by positive technical momentum. Crypto traders said investors have begun monitoring the $1.55 support level and the Altcoin Season Index for early signs of whether the rotation is sustaining or fading.

XRP has shown remarkable strength, with its price increasing 26.41% over the past week to $1.62. This outperforms the total crypto market cap, which grew 14.06% in the same period.
