XRP at $1.35 as Ripple Announces GSmart AI Agent Expansion

XRP fell 2.89% to $1.35 on Friday, underperforming the broader market decline driven mainly by a macro sell-off in risk assets, even as Ripple announced its GSmart AI expansion.

A hotter-than-expected U.S. Producer Price Index print (5.4% vs. 5.3% forecast) on September 10 revived fears of further Federal Reserve rate hikes.

Concurrently, the European Central Bank raised its key rate. This dual shock triggered a flight from risk, hitting crypto alongside traditional markets. The total crypto market cap fell 1.5%.

On-chain data showed sell-side dominance in XRP’s market. The long-to-short ratio fell to 0.83, indicating more short positions, and funding rates turned negative.

This positioning in derivatives suggests traders expect further declines. The sell-off was broad, with major altcoins like Ethereum and Solana also falling 3-5%.

XRP is testing critical support at its 200-day Exponential Moving Average near $1.34. The technical structure remains constructive above the cluster of major moving averages ($1.24–$1.35).

The immediate catalyst is the U.S. Senate’s procedural vote on the CLARITY Act scheduled for September 15, which could bring regulatory clarity.

The trend is bearish in the short term, hinging on key support. Watch for: A daily close below $1.34 to confirm further downside toward the $1.25 Fibonacci retracement level.

XRP’s decline reflects macro uncertainty and risk-off sentiment, exacerbated by negative positioning in derivatives. While ETF inflows provided a quiet counter-narrative, they were insufficient to offset the broader sell-off.

Ripple has significantly expanded GSmart, the artificial intelligence functionality embedded in its corporate treasury management platform, Ripple Treasury.

In an announcement on the 10th (local time), Ripple said the overhaul centres on a design that lets AI analyse financial data and provide recommendations, while execution—such as payments or fund transfers—must be approved by the responsible personnel.

GSmart operates on the financial policies, data, and work procedures companies actually use. A separate deterministic engine processes financial calculations, while AI focuses solely on policy interpretation, anomaly detection, and recommendation generation.

Ripple Treasury explained that rather than having AI models compute and execute results on their own, it has separated the calculation layer from the AI layer so that final decision-making authority remains with humans.

The new features apply across cash forecasting and planning, liquidity management, risk monitoring, reconciliation, and reporting functions.

Each AI agent monitors its assigned workflow, proposes necessary actions, and presents the internal policy clauses that form the basis of its judgment. Users can review the relevant clauses and supporting data before deciding whether to proceed
