Sterling Financial Holdings Set to Resume Trading After 10-Day Suspension
Sterling Financial Holdings Plc is set to resume active trading on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) trading platform after 10-day suspension for the company’s share reconstruction lapsed today.
The non-operating holding company of Sterling Bank share price closed at N7.7 per share at the last trading session on Sept 22 with its 68.502 billion outstanding shares valued at N527.467 billion.
Sterling Financial Holdings Plc.’s shareholders approved the shares reconstruction at the company’s Annual General Meeting on June 9, 2026. NGX RegCo placed a full suspension on the organisation on the bourse to prevent trading during the reconciliation process from Sept 23.
The announced suspension period runs for up to ten working days, through Wednesday, October 7, 2026 as the group commenced its approved share capital reconstruction, consolidating every ten existing ordinary shares into one new ordinary share.
Investment analysts said the suspension allows the Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) and Pace Registrars Limited to reconcile holdings and update the shareholder register.
According to stock market analysts, following the exercise, an investor holding 10,000 Sterling Financial shares before the reconstruction will hold 1,000 shares afterwards.
