Ogun ‌‍‌‍‌‍‌‌Assembly Passes 2027-2029 MTEF Ahead of 2027 Budget

The Ogun House of Assembly on Thursday passed the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) for the 2027-2029 fiscal years, in preparation for the 2027 Appropriation Bill.

The passage followed the presentation of the report of the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation by its Chairman, Mr Musefiu Lamidi (APC-Ado-odo/Ota), during plenary at the Assembly Complex in Abeokuta

Lamidi moved for the adoption of the report, which was seconded by Mr Lukman Adeleye (APC-Odogbolu) and supported by the lawmakers.

The Speaker, Mr Oludaisi Elemide, thereafter presented the MTEF sector-by-sector before the lawmakers for consideration.

The Assembly Chief Whip, Mrs Omolola Bakare, subsequently moved the motion for the approval of the framework, which was seconded by Adeleye and supported by the House.

The approval took effect from Sept. 8.

Elemide, thereafter, directed the Clerk/Head of Legislative Service, Mr Sakiru Adebakin, to forward clean copies of the approved MTEF to Gov. Dapo Abiodun.

He added that the clean copies of the approved MTEF should also be forwarded to relevant agencies for the preparation of the 2027 budget and projections for the outer years.

Earlier, Lamidi, in his presentation, said the MTEF was referred to the committee on Aug. 28 for further legislative consideration

“The summary of the MTEF contains budget proposals of the sum of N2.086tr for the 2027 financial year, N2.294tr for 2028 and the sum of N2.524tr budget proposals for the 2029 fiscal year,” he said. Nigeria’s Foreign Reserves Rise to $54.41bn, Highest in 18-Year
