Nigeria Customs Service unveils MIS File Tracker

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) on Friday unveiled its Management Information System (MIS) File Tracker at the PTML Area Command, Lagos, to deepen digital transformation and improve administrative efficiency.

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adeniyi, said the initiative aligned with the Service’s modernisation agenda aimed at expanding digital solutions, enhancing transparency and facilitating seamless trade.

Adeniyi, represented by the Deputy Comptroller-General in charge of ICT/Modernisation, Mrs Oluyomi Adebakin, at the event, reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to leveraging technology to transform operations and improve service delivery across its commands nationwide.

He said the unveiling of the tracker, built on landmark digital initiatives such as the Nigeria Trade Portal and the Customs Verification Management System, reflecting the Service’s resolve to embrace innovation in line with global best practices.

According to him, the MIS File Tracker will further strengthen the PTML Area Command’s reputation as a hub for innovation by promoting efficient administration and faster processing of personnel documentation.

Adeniyi explained that the MIS is an enterprise platform with a Single Sign-On feature that provides a unified data platform for administrative processes across departments, eliminating duplication and improving efficiency.

He urged officers to maximise the platform for leave and pass applications, file tracking, duty rosters, internal staff orders, nominal rolls and other administrative functions.

The customs boss added that the platform incorporated feedback channels for modifications and improvements, and would streamline workflows, reduce manual processes and support data-driven decision-making across the Service.

He noted that the PTML Area Command, regarded as one of the Service’s most technologically advanced commands, had previously piloted major digital projects, including the Unified Customs Management System, popularly known as B’Odogwu.

Earlier, the Acting Controller of the PTML Area Command, Deputy Comptroller Nura Miko, expressed confidence that the command would successfully implement the platform and serve as a model for customs innovation nationwide.

Miko said the command was leveraging technology-driven trade facilitation initiatives introduced by the Customs management to improve service delivery and enhance cargo clearance processes.

He disclosed that efforts were underway to reduce the clearance time for compliant Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) cargo from two hours to one hour.

According to him, the MIS File Tracker represents another milestone in the Service’s digital transformation drive and will help sustain its position as one of Africa’s leading customs administrations. Nigeria Customs Launches Smart Declaration System to Curb Airport Delays
