MultiChoice Cuts DStv Decoder Price, Offers Free Package Upgrades

MultiChoice Nigeria has announced a significant price reduction for its DStv decoder, cutting the cost in half from ₦20,000 to ₦10,000. This move is part of a new promotional drive aimed at boosting subscriptions and rewarding customer loyalty under the ‘We Got You’ campaign. Customers who pay in full for their current subscription plan between June 16 and July 31, 2025, will also receive a free package upgrade.

According to John Ugbe, Chief Executive Officer of MultiChoice Nigeria, the initiative is designed to offer greater value to subscribers amid Nigeria’s economic challenges. “We want to ensure our customers feel appreciated and have access to the best entertainment every day. DStv offers something for everyone, not just football fans,” Ugbe said.

The company is repositioning DStv as a platform for daily value across various genres, including movies, drama, kids’ shows, and news, rather than just focusing on sports. This move comes after a significant loss of 1.4 million subscribers between March 2023 and March 2025, as well as three separate subscription price increases over the past year.

MultiChoice says the discount and free upgrade are a response to the financial strain on many Nigerian households and an effort to rebuild consumer confidence. #MultiChoice Cuts DStv Decoder Price, Offers Free Package Upgrades#
