Iran Announces Cash Rewards for Capturing U.S. Soldiers
Iran’s army has announced a cash rewards for anyone who kills or captures U.S. soldiers who enter Iranian territory as attackers.
Army spokesman Amir Akraminia said the reward would apply to anyone who killed a U.S. soldier and handed over the body or captured one alive.
“Anyone who kills a U.S. soldier entering Iran as an attacker and hands over the body, or captures the soldier alive, would receive a reward,” he said.
Akraminia said the reward would be about 17,500 euros (19,800 dollars) for men and about 35,000 euros for women.
The announcement comes amid the ongoing conflict between Iran, the United States and Israel.
The United States and Israel launched military operations against Iran at the end of February, with extensive airstrikes reported across the country.
The conflict remains unresolved, while negotiations have been stalled for months.
One of the main points of contention is control of the Strait of Hormuz, a major route for global energy supplies.
