Integrating AI in Cybersecurity Will Strengthen Cyber Defence –NCCC Boss

The Coordinator, National Cyber security Coordination Centre (NCCC), Ahmad Abubakar, says Integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the country’s cyber security infrastructure will strengthen cyber defence.

Abubakar said this while addressing newsmen on the forthcoming Cyber security conference on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said that there was the need to strengthen the country’s defence following continued use of sophisticated cyber threats.

The coordinators further explained that the cyber security conference would mark a crucial step in advancing the discourse on cyber security in the country and beyond.

“The conference will also represent a strategic initiative to foster collaboration between government, private sector leaders, and international experts,’’ he said.

According to him, the conference will provide a forum for industry experts, policymakers, and thought leaders to share ideas, strategies, and innovations that will shape the future of cyber security.

Also speaking, Haruna Jalo-Waziri, the Managing Director, and Chief Executive Officer of Central Securities Clearing Systems Plc, said the conference was a testament to commitment of fostering a secure environment for the country’s financial markets.

“We recognise that cyber security is not an issue that one organisation or sector can tackle alone.

“It requires collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and coordinated action across all levels of government and industry,” he said.

In her speech, Isioma Lawal, the Head of Enterprise Risk Management and Resilience Service at CSCS said that increasing risks posed by AI must be addressed.

“We must work towards a future where our data remains secure. We are excited about coming together to tackle critical challenges,’’ she said.

She, however, said that it was essential to invest in infrastructure but also develop the young talents.

“By building human capacity, we can nurture a new generation of cyber security experts,’’ Lawal said.

The News Agency reports that the forthcoming cyber security conference had been scheduled to hold on Oct. 17 with the theme:  ‘Cyber security: Synergising AI and Infrastructure’.

The conference is organised by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) in collaboration with Public limited company with a diversified shareholder base, including the Nigerian Stock Exchange
