FG Tasks Insurance Industry on Improved Service Delivery

The Federal Government on Thursday, urged key players and regulators in the insurance industry to step up efforts toward improving service delivery to Nigerians.

The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the call when he received the Chief Executive Officer of the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM), Mr Ayo Omosehin, in his office in Abuja.

Tunji-Ojo urged NAICOM as regulator of the insurance sector, to encourage insurance companies to create more innovative products that meet the needs of Nigerians.

He said  that adopting modern and creative solutions will boost both the national economy and the insurance industry.

The minister commended the current management of NAICOM for showing innovation in regulating the sector, adding that these qualities had helped to build confidence among stakeholders.

In his remarks, Omosehin said that the visit was to explore areas of collaboration between NAICOM and the Ministry of Interior.

He said that access to the national data bank will help the commission to verify the profiles of insurance policyholders and improve its regulatory effectiveness.

Omosehin said that NAICOM was also stepping up its public awareness campaigns to educate Nigerians on the benefits of insurance. #FG Tasks Insurance Industry on Improved Service Delivery#
