Binance Coin Tops $610 Ahead of BNB Chain Pasteur Hard Fork
Binance Coin (BNB) price topped $610.54 on Saturday, modestly outperforming a flat Bitcoin (+0.15%) and primarily driven by steady ecosystem utility and modest market beta.
The coin price is moving in line with a slightly positive broader market while benefiting from ongoing Launchpool rewards and network activity. BNB’s 0.71% gain closely mirrors Bitcoin’s 0.15% uptick, suggesting the move is partly a modest beta play in a quiet market.
Buying interest preceded BNB Chain’s scheduled Pasteur hard fork for Aug. 25, introducing three changes intended to strengthen cross-chain transfers, tighten validator controls, and raise tested transaction capacity from 1,237 to 2,324 transactions per second.
BNB Chain said in an Aug. 14 announcement that Pasteur will go live on BNB Smart Chain at 2:30 a.m. UTC on Aug. 25 after running on its test network since July 21.
Node operators must install BSC software version v1.7.7 before the activation time. The network also instructed operators to remove an outdated setting called from their configuration files because the updated software will not start if it remains in place.
Pasteur includes three proposals: BEP-682, BEP-695, and BEP-675. The first two address security and validator permissions, while the third changes how transactions are processed when new blocks are prepared.
In the crypto market, traders remain optimistic after a wallet that had been dormant for about a year returned to purchase over $2 million worth of major altcoins, including approximately 1,007 BNB.
The portfolio is diversified across established assets such as ETH, LINK, and AVAX, while the wallet holds over $2 million in USDT reserves.
BNB’s steady demand is supported by ongoing ecosystem utilities such as Launchpool airdrops, Greenfield network activity, and the auto-burn mechanism, which collectively lock up supply and generate organic yield.
The price action reflects a lack of selling pressure and steady, utility-driven demand rather than a speculative surge. Sustained trading volume above the 24h average of $898 million will confirm conviction behind the move.
The immediate technical structure shows BNB consolidating above key moving averages, with RSI at 55–56 indicating neutral momentum. The upcoming BNB Chain Pasteur hard fork on August 25 is a known event but not a near-term catalyst.
Key support is the $602–$605 zone (Fibonacci 61.8%–78.6% retracement and recent swing low). Resistance sits at $620–$622 (the 200% extension and the recent high).
The near-term bias is neutral to slightly positive within a defined range. A decisive close above $622 to signal a breakout, or a break below $602 to indicate weakening structure.
