XRP Jumps 6% as CFTC Submits Crypto Market Regulation Proposal

Ripple XRP jumped by about 6% in 24 hours to $1.41, closely tracking a broader market rally primarily driven by renewed regulatory optimism.

The move appears beta-driven, with XRP slightly outperforming Bitcoin’s 4% gain as sentiment improved following the CFTC’s submission of a crypto market structure framework.

XRP’s rise aligns with a 3.71% gain in total crypto market cap. The key driver was the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) submitting a proposed framework for crypto market regulation to the White House on September 17, 2026.

This action, following the Senate’s failure to pass the CLARITY Act, signalled regulators’ intent to provide clarity using existing authority, boosting overall market confidence.

The move was less about XRP-specific news and more a reaction to improved macro-regulatory sentiment for crypto assets. Spot trading volume surged 63.63% to $4.81 billion, indicating strong conviction behind the price move.

Technically, XRP broke and held above its 7-day simple moving average at $1.34, turning this level into immediate support. The 14-day RSI at 55.46 suggests there is still room for upward momentum before becoming overbought.

The price advance was confirmed by significant volume and a shift in short-term market structure to bullish. The immediate bullish scenario depends on holding the $1.34 support (7-day SMA).

If buyers maintain control, a push toward the 38.2% Fibonacci retracement level at $1.46 is the next logical target.  The main risk is a failure to hold $1.34, which could see a retest of the stronger 61.8% Fibonacci support at $1.32.

The concrete trigger to watch is the progression of the CFTC’s regulatory proposal through the White House review process. The short-term bias is cautiously bullish, contingent on holding recent gains.

Traders said XRP’s gain is part of a broader relief rally sparked by regulatory progress, amplified by strong volume and a technical breakout.XRP Sinks 10% as Clarity Act Fails, Ripple Assures Community
