FAAN, ICAN to Collaborate on Capacity Building

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) are to collaborate on capacity building.

The Managing Director of FAAN, Mrs Olubunmi Kuku, said this while receiving the ICAN 59th President, Dr Innocent Okwuosa and his team in her office on Monday in Lagos

Kuku said that accountants formed an important segment of FAAN.

She said that over 100 accountants in the FAAN’s workforce had been doing their jobs transparently and with integrity.

She explained that accountants working with FAAN had proven to be a very important segment of the agency’s workforce by carrying out their jobs with commitment, accuracy, transparency and integrity.

According to her, we desire to continue to partner with your prestigious institute as we leverage this important visit to call for stronger collaboration between FAAN and ICAN going forward.

Kuku noted that ICAN had continued to play a critical role in training and retraining of accountants all over the country to provide accounting services with the highest level of professionalism.

She commended the ICAN president and his team for the great work they were doing to maintain professional competence of members.

According to her, FAAN is committed to ensuring that services at airports across the country meet international standards for safe, secure and efficient carriage of passengers and goods within the country.

She said that this had caused the paths of FAAN and ICAN to cross as institutions in ensuring accountability of the operations of the authority.

The ICAN president thanked the FAAN boss for a warm welcome, saying that the institute would like to partner with FAAN on capacity building to further equip its members.

He said that the FAAN managing director had not only made history as the first woman managing director of the agency but had also inspired women across the country that they could get to leadership positions.

Okwuosa noted that ICAN recognised the important role and impact FAAN made in the aviation industry infrastructure development, which was why serious accidents and incidents had not been recorded in recent times.

He lauded FAAN for supporting ICAN members working with the agency through training to further broaden their horizon.

He urged the management of FAAN to further sponsor ICAN members to ICAN Annual Conference coming up in October and other international conferences. TCN Begs NASS for More Funds to Complete Ongoing Projects

The ICAN president appealed to the FAAN managing director to liaise with other agencies to establish the ICAN Chapter.
