The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) on Thursday said electricity distribution companies (DisCos) remitted N385.44 billion in the second quarter of 2026.

The ‌‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‌figure is contained in the commission’s second quarter 2026 operational and commercial performance report posted on its X handle in Abuja on Thursday.

The report gave an overview of key operational, commercial, metering and regulatory developments across the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry.

The report shows that the DisCos achieved an overall market remittance rate of 94 per cent.

It said that the payment settled invoices issued by the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading and the Market Operator.

The report also said that on power generation, grid-connected plants recorded a 90 per cent plant load factor in the quarter under review, with an average hourly output of 4,022.40 Megawatts/hour.

”In terms of billing and collection, total energy billed stood at N744.67 billion, representing a billing efficiency of 79 per cent,” it said.

The report said that the total revenue collected was N603.64billion, a collection efficiency of 81 per cent.

It said on metering, the DisCos installed 350,270 additional customers during the period under review and this increased the national metering rate to 62 per cent.

It also said that the average Aggregate Technical, Commercial and Collection loss across the DisCos was 36 per cent, well above the average allowed target of 16.92 per cent.

On regulatory oversight, NERC said it issued 64 regulatory instruments in the quarter under the powers granted by the Electricity Act 2023.

It said that the regulatory oversight included 35 orders and 18 Market Service Provider and Metering Asset Provider (MAP) certificates. #DisCos Remit N385,44bn to Electricity Market in Q2,2026 – NERC# DisCos meter 141,746  customers in August – NERC
