Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) says Electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) metered  additional 141,746 customers in August.

The commission disclosed this in its August factsheet report on its X handle in Abuja on Wednesday.

According to the factsheet, the 141, 746 metered customers is lower than the 159,980 recorded in July.

It said that metering rate increased to 63.10 per cent by the end of August from the 62.37 per cent recorded  in July.

The ‌‍‌‍‍‍‌commission said that the July and August metering status  showed that 8,045,565 of the 12,749,789 active customers across all DisCos were now metered.

”In July, the figures stood at 7,903,819 metered customers out of 12,671,795 active customers,” it said.

The report said that Eko, Ikeja and Abuja DisCos recorded the highest metering rates in the month under review.

It said that Eko led with 89.64 per cent followed by Ikeja 87.74 per cent and Abuja at 82.62 per cent.

The report also said that Port Harcourt DisCo was the only other company to cross the 70 per cent mark, reaching 71.00 per cent in August from 69.61 in July.

NERC said that Port Harcourt Disco also recorded the largest number of newly metered customers in the month under review. #DisCos meter 141,746  customers in August – NERC# Power Generation Utilisation Hits 81% in September-NERC
