Trump: US Taxpayers Tired of Funding Ukraine, Zelenskyy Must Make Deal With Russia

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to make a deal with Russia, warning that Ukrainians may no longer support continued war.

“We want Zelenskyy to make a deal. He can make a deal. He could have made a deal two years ago when we had our little chat in the Oval Office,” Trump told reporters at the White House.

“He’s going to have to want to make a deal, because I don’t think his people are going to stand for it any longer.”

Trump said Kyiv could have secured better terms two years ago and that Moscow is steadily gaining territory. He said US taxpayers are tired of funding Ukraine.

“We have given tremendous amounts to Ukraine; we’ve got nothing back. Other than high diesel. The American taxpayers are tired of it. We have gotten nothing back other than grief, death, and tremendous monetary loss. It’s time to make a deal.”

The remarks come as relations between Washington and Kyiv have soured. Trump has partially lifted sanctions to strike a diesel-supply arrangement with Russian President Vladimir Putin and criticized Ukrainian strikes on Russian refineries for pushing up global fuel prices.

Zelenskyy met Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff in Oslo on Tuesday for talks aimed at easing tensions. Witkoff is expected to meet Putin in Russia on Wednesday.

Zelenskyy welcomed the resumption of US intelligence sharing on Russian strikes but insisted Kyiv must be included in any talks on its future. #Trump: US Taxpayers Tired of Funding Ukraine, Zelenskyy Must Make Deal With Russia# Zelenskiy: U.S. Envoys Present ‘Decent Ideas’
