Moniepoint’s N1trn Small Businesses Credit Earns Its Fintech Award

Moniepoint Microfinance Bank (MFB) on Monday said it disbursed more than N1trillion in credit to thousands of small businesses in 2025, earning it the SME Microfinance Bank of the Year award for the third consecutive year.

The Senior Vice-President, Distribution Network Sales, Moniepoint, Mr Ezekiel Sanni, said in a statement that the recognition reinforced the bank’s commitment to supporting small businesses.

Sanni said the bank would continue expanding access to credit and investing in its network to help more businesses grow.

He said that small businesses were the backbone of the Nigerian economy.

‘This award strengthens our commitment to give small businesses the credit, payments and tools they need to scale,” Sanni said.

He said the bank would continue to expand access to credit and invest in its network to help more businesses grow.

On Eniolorunda’s award, Sanni said it recognised the company’s commitment to making quality financial services accessible to small businesses across the country.

The award was presented at the 14th BusinessDay Banks and Other Financial Institutions (BAFI) Awards.

Tosin Eniolorunda, Co-founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of Moniepoint Inc., also won the SME Finance Transformation Leader of the Year Award.

The BAFI Awards recognise institutions and individuals for their performance, innovation and leadership in Nigeria’s financial services sector.

According to the bank’s 2025 Year in Review, businesses that accessed the credit recorded an average transaction value growth of more than 36 per cent.

Moniepoint said it uses alternative data, including transaction histories, business patterns and payment behaviour, to assess the creditworthiness of small businesses.

The bank also reported serving more than six million active businesses and processing N412 trillion in transaction value across more than 14 billion transactions in 2025.

According to the company, its payment network powers eight in every 10 in-person payments in Nigeria.

The 2026 edition presented 67 awards across payments, lending, investment management, capital markets, insurance, pensions and trusteeship.

Moniepoint MFB has also received other recognitions, including Best Financial Institution in Women Empowerment from the Association of Professional Women Bankers. #Moniepoint’s N1trn Small Businesses Credit Earns Its Fintech Award# Moniepoint Unveils N3bn Commitment for Innovation Hubs in OAU, UNN, ABU
