Pi Network Price Climbs to $0.08 as Protocol 28 Goes Live
Pi Network price climbed to $0.08 in 24 hours as protocol 28 goes live with a soft rally in the cryptocurrency market on Sunday.
The upgrade was followed by a sharp decline in trading volume, reflecting weak buyer conviction, though traders are optimism that the improved utility will be price into the risk asset in weeks ahead.
Data from cryptocurrency exchange showed Pi gained less than 0.5% over soft buying interest.
The live Pi price today is $0.080003 USD with a 24-hour trading volume of $2,616,126. Pi Network completed its Protocol 28 Mainnet upgrade, confirmed by Horizon API data on October 17.
The infrastructure-focused update introduces batch smart-contract upgrades via Soroban, allowing developers to update linked contracts simultaneously.
This reduces version mismatches and streamlines development cycles, though ordinary users may not notice direct changes.
This is a neutral-to-bullish development for PI as it enhances the underlying infrastructure for builders, which is essential for long-term app ecosystem growth. However, the immediate price impact was limited, with light trading volume noted post-upgrade.
Protocol 28 introduces smarter handling of transaction-data delays and grouped smart-contract upgrades; Pi also published September KYC and migration fixes.
Pi Network removed a duplicate-account KYC flag for more than 417,000 Pioneers and prepared a wallet fix for about 497,000 accounts that could not claim migrated $PI balances, affecting roughly 914,000 users in total.
Removing the flag allows those applicants to continue the KYC process but does not mean they have passed — users must still complete identity checks and the Mainnet Checklist.
Pi said the 417,000 figure is roughly 2.5% of a previously reported migrated-user count.
Elsewhere, the Pi Core Team announced its inaugural Pi Ecosystem Summit, a three-day online event scheduled for November 17–19, 2026. The agenda is developer-centric, featuring platform announcements, tool demonstrations, partner app showcases, and details for a new hackathon.
This differs from broader community celebrations like Pi Day.
This is bullish for PI as it signals a strategic pivot toward empowering developers and building real utility, which is critical for creating sustainable token demand beyond mining rewards.
The summit’s success will hinge on the quality of tools released and subsequent developer adoption.
Pi Network’s latest news underscores a clear focus on strengthening its developer platform with Protocol 28 and the upcoming Ecosystem Summit, laying groundwork for future utility.
