Trump Tells Zelensky, Stop Hitting Russian Diesel Refineries as Global Prices Surge
U.S. President Donald Trump has urged Ukraine to halt attacks on Russian diesel infrastructure, warning that the strikes are causing a global fuel shortage.
Speaking on Sunday at the Irish Open in Doonbeg, Ireland, Trump said he had told Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to stop targeting refineries that produce diesel.
Trump said the attacks were hurting countries worldwide and driving up prices, with U.S. diesel now above $6 a gallon for the first time.
The call comes after months of long-range Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian refineries, which Kyiv defends as legitimate military targets, but which have cut Russia’s fuel output and sparked gasoline shortages inside Russia.
