HYPEUSD Jumps by 4%, Tops $71 on Buyback Momentum

Hyperliquid (HYPEUSD) is up 4.26% to $71.11, significantly outperforming the broader market, which rose 1.4%, driven by its strong fundamental growth and aggressive tokenomics.

The move shows alpha, not just beta, as positive sentiment converges around its expanding ecosystem and substantial buybacks.

Hyperliquid’s price strength is underpinned by its expanding utility. The HIP-3 and HIP-4 upgrades have transformed it into a platform for permissionless perpetual and prediction markets, capturing over 70% of on-chain perps volume.

This is coupled with an aggressive buyback program, in which 97% of trading fees are used to repurchase and burn HYPE tokens, thereby removing significant supply from circulation.

U.S.-listed HYPE ETFs have also seen eight consecutive weeks of inflows, adding to institutional demand.  The project’s fundamental value proposition is strengthening, which supports higher price levels independent of short-term news.

The broader crypto market rose 1.4% in the past 24h, led by Bitcoin’s 1.32% gain as spot ETF outflows briefly reversed on shifting rate expectations.

This provided a tailwind. Simultaneously, the Altcoin Season Index rose 4.26%, indicating some capital rotation toward altcoins, which may have amplified HYPE’s move. HYPE benefited from a general risk-on tone in crypto, but its outperformance suggests coin-specific conviction.

The immediate trajectory hinges on two factors: technical support and a major token unlock. The $70 level is now critical support. If buyers defend it, the path toward the $78–$80 resistance zone is open.

However, a significant test arrives on July 6, when $645 million worth of HYPE (9.9 million tokens) unlocks for core contributors. If this leads to substantial selling pressure, a break below $70 could trigger a retreat toward the $65 area.

The bias is cautiously bullish but faces a clear, measurable event risk in two days. Hyperliquid’s rally is supported by tangible ecosystem growth and deflationary tokenomics, giving it a firmer foundation than mere speculation. The key test of this strength is imminent.
