    LFTZ Customs Revenue Increases to N742.3bn

     Lagos Free Trade Zone (LFTZ) Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) says it generated N742.3 billion in revenue in 2025.

    The Customs Area Controller of the command, Comptroller Hauwa Abubakar, disclosed this in Lagos during a Reputation Management Workshop. She said that the figure represented a 101.7 per cent increase over the N359.0 billion recorded in 2024.

    Abubakar attributed the increase to improved professionalism, discipline and operational efficiency among officers.

    She said sustained revenue growth was closely linked to the Service’s credibility, noting that ethical conduct and transparency were critical to maintaining the confidence of investors and other stakeholders operating within the free trade zone.

    She explained that reputation management required officers to consistently act in line with the Customs Act, service regulations and the oath of office, stressing that integrity must guide daily operations.

    According to her, the workshop was designed to ensure that revenue performance was supported by a strong institutional image and public trust.

    “This training goes beyond revenue generation and enforcement. It reinforces the importance of character, conduct and public perception in building a globally respected customs service,” Abubakar said.

    She commended the Comptroller-General of Customs, Mr Bashir Adeniyi, and the management team for their commitment to institutional reforms and professionalism across the Service.

    The area controller described reputation as a vital asset for a uniformed agency, noting that public trust, stakeholder confidence and operational legitimacy depended largely on officers’ conduct

    Abubakar warned that in an era of heightened public scrutiny and instant information sharing, misconduct by a single officer could undermine the collective efforts of the Service nationwide.

    She urged officers to approach the workshop with seriousness and openness, adding that the knowledge gained should translate into improved service delivery, stronger stakeholder relations and strict adherence to ethical standards.
