Presco Climbs Sharply on Investors’ Confidence, Financial Health

In what has become a defining narrative of resilience and strategic growth on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), Presco Plc has continued its strong upward trajectory over the past five months, capturing the attention and confidence of investors.

As of the close of trading on Friday, June 20, 2025, Presco was not only the most actively traded stock on the NGX for the week but also a bellwether of momentum-driven performance, signalling deep investor conviction in its fundamentals.

Presco Plc entered 2025 on a distinctly bullish note, riding on the back of stellar performance indicators from Q4 2024 and further reinforced by a solid Q1 2025 showing.

The company’s robust earnings, improved operational efficiency, and clarity in strategic direction established early market enthusiasm that translated into sustained price appreciation and heavy trading activity.

The stock, which began the year at a 52-week low of N346.10, has experienced a notable rally, moving steadily toward a 52-week high of N1,100.00 per share.

This price movement represents more than a 200% increase year-to-date, a reflection of strong investor sentiment backed by performance metrics.

Technical analysis further validates Presco’s growth momentum. The stock has decisively moved above both its short and long-term support lines both on 50-day moving average of N878.60 and 200-day moving average of N645.15, respectively.

This dual convergence of bullish indicators suggests that the stock’s rise is not merely speculative, but is grounded in sustained buying pressure and broader market confidence. The momentum has been steady, with intermittent consolidations that indicate healthy price corrections rather than volatile spikes.

Presco recorded a trading volume of 1,000,773 shares during the final trading session of the week, far above its average daily volume of 365,879.05 shares.

The cumulative market value of these trades stood at an impressive N1.09 trillion, spread across 321 executed deals — underscoring the breadth of interest from institutional and retail investors.

The company’s consistent presence among the top gainers and most actively traded stocks in the last five months reflects not just price action but deep liquidity and high market participation — essential factors in maintaining upward momentum.

What sets Presco apart in the current equities landscape is the alignment between its market performance and its financial fundamentals.

Investors have been particularly encouraged by the rising revenue and profit margins amid disciplined cost management aligned with strong cash flow position, which supports both operations and future expansion.

Also coupled with strategic investments in plantation expansion and processing capacity, creating long-term value and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives that resonate with global investment trends

This strong financial base acts as the underlying engine for the price movement, ensuring that investor enthusiasm is not merely sentiment-driven but rooted in real, measurable growth.

Presco has become something of a momentum darling on the NGX, often leading daily gainers and posting consistent week-on-week advances. This has made it a favourite among momentum traders, while long-term investors view it as a solid addition to their portfolios for growth and value preservation.

With increasing institutional coverage and analyst upgrades expected in the coming quarters, the stock’s visibility and valuation multiples are poised for further upside, especially if the company sustains its earnings momentum into Q2 and Q3 2025.

Presco Plc’s performance over the last five months stands as a compelling example of how strong fundamentals, strategic vision, and market confidence can combine to deliver shareholder value.

As it continues to outperform key technical and market indicators, the stock’s momentum appears well-supported, making it one of the top equities to watch — and possibly invest in — on the NGX through the rest of 2025.

For now, the trajectory remains upward, powered by a solid operational base and the growing trust of Nigeria’s ever-watchful investment community.
