The new Managing Director of  Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Capt Rabiu Yadudu, has solicited support of airline operators for the improvement of services at the nation’s airports.

A statement issued by Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, General Manager, Corporate Affairs, FAAN, said Yadudu made the appeal yesterday  in Lagos, at a meeting with Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) and Airline Operating Committee (AOC).

Yadudu said that the essence of the meeting was to reaffirm FAAN’s commitment to improvement of services at all airports, and to solicit their cooperation and support in this regard. According to him, the AON and AOC are primary stakeholders of the authority, which informed engaging them first among numerous others.

He assured them that the new management would be open to advice and constructive criticisms.

Yadudu promised that FAAN would concentrate on delivering structured, time-bound, sustainable and improved services to all stakeholders.

He said the agency was already taking bold steps to addressing gaps in its processes and procedures by collaborating with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), through its Airport Service Quality (ASQ) programme.

The FAAN boss requested the associations to nominate two members to work in a committee that would be constituted immediately. He said the members would work alongside FAAN officials to drive the delivery of improved services at the airports.

The Chairman of AON, Capt. Nogie Meggison, who spoke on behalf of the airlines, congratulated the new managing director on his appointment. He pledged the support and cooperation of airline operators toward delivering improved services at the airports, and helping FAAN to develop the Lagos airport into a hub.

Present at the meeting were the Chairman of Medview Airline, Alhaji Muneer Bankole; Chairman of Air Peace, Allen Onyema; Chairman of Overland Airways, Capt Edward Boyo; and Station Manager, British Airways, Mrs Adetoun Odejinmi.
