Ethiopia Inflation Rate Accelerates to 17.5%
In Ethiopia, consumer price index (CPI) has remained under pressure amidst government efforts to keep macroeconomic performance sturdy.
Data showed that Ethiopia’s annual inflation rate climbed to 17.5% in September 2024, from five-year low of 17.2% recorded in August, according to statistics office.
In the month, food prices rose at a quicker pace, settling at 19.6% from 18.8% in August, whereas non-food prices saw a continued slowdown to 14.3% from 14.7%.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices surged by 2.4% in September, statistical office said in a report, the country’s highest increase in the last six months, following a 1.2% rise in the prior month. #Ethiopia Inflation Rate Accelerates to 17.5%
