NASD Loss Widens as Unlisted Companies Stocks Sink

NASD over-the-counter Securities Exchange index slides further in the just concluded week due to negative movement in unlisted companies’ stock prices.

Consequently, the NASD Securities Index’s year-to-date loss widened further amidst weak interest in Naira assets due to rising inflation rate, including the worsening exchange rate.

In the just concluded week, the NASD securities index return decreased by 0.01% to close at 727.88 points against 727.98 points in the previous week, according to trading data.

Overall, selloffs on unlisted companies’ shares pull down NASD capitalisation by N14 million to close at ₦958.19 billion compared to ₦958.33 billion in the comparable week.

Market traders said there was a 122.48% increase in the total value traded during the week. Trading results showed that NASD Investors traded a total of ₦206,897,654.70 in value compared to ₦92,994,032.87 in the previous week.

Hence, total trade activity for the year inched to ₦ 27,030,382,128.86 while total volume traded settled at 960,280 units in the week compared to 708,644 units in the previous week.

This translates to a 35.51% increase in trade volume week on week; and the total volume traded for the year now settled at 3,483,399,803 units.

VFD Group Plc ranking top among the five most traded securities by volume and 11Plc as the fifth most traded stock by volume traded in the week. READ:NASD Tumbles over Selloffs in Unlisted Companies Shares

Also, VFD Group Plc ranking top among the five most traded securities by value and Central Securities Clearing System Plc stood as the fifth most traded Security by value for the week.

Friesland Campina Wamco Nigeria Plc, which currently holds a market capitalisation of ₦73.22 billion closed the week at ₦75.00 per share, representing a 2.53 percent increase from the previous close of ₦73.15

Central Securities Clearing System Plc, which currently holds a market capitalization of ₦66.25 billion closed the week at ₦13.25 representing a 5.36 percent decrease from the previous close of ₦14.00.

Year to date, NASD OTC Securities Exchange Market closed on a negative note as the market performance declined.

Thus, as of Friday’s close, the NASD Security Index’s year-to-date return has decreased by 2.02%. On cumulative terms, total volume traded from the beginning of the year to date has inched to 3,483,399,803 units in 2,242 deals and the total value traded settled at N27,030,382,128.86.
