XRP Price Climbs Afincreasedle CEO Says ‘Not XRP Maximalist’
Ripple (XRP) price increased 1.66% to $1.52, outperforming a slightly negative broader market, primarily driven by sustained institutional demand via ETF inflows.
The token price rose amid a slowdown in trading volume, with slightly more than $4.71 billion in transaction value on Tuesday, according to data from a crypto exchange.
XRP has gained 70% from its August low due to a rapid shift in crypto market dynamics, geopolitical shifts, and the US Treasury’s plan to adjust expectations for bond buying.
Investors maintained positive expectation as Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse pushed back on the idea that he only backs XRP, when asked in a recent interview why someone should choose XRP over top coins like Solana and hold it for the next five years.
“I’m not one of these people who’s an XRP maximalist,” Garlinghouse said. “I’m bullish on a bunch of cryptos, for a bunch of reasons.”
He added that he’s not trying to convince anyone to buy XRP over other top-five cryptocurrencies, and that his focus is on solving real problems rather than pushing a single token.
Traders said XRP’s path is being shaped by conflicting forces: speculative futures trading pressures prices, while foundational network upgrades quietly build utility for institutions.
Sharp and sustained ETF inflows signal institutional accumulation, with U.S. spot XRP ETFs adding another $3.96 million on September 28, extending cumulative inflows to $1.79 billion.
The positive price move is anchored by ongoing institutional buying through regulated ETFs. U.S. spot XRP ETFs recorded a $ 3 billion inflow on September 28, bringing total net assets to a record $1.79 billion.
This steady demand helps absorb supply and provides a price floor. Traders said institutional investors are accumulating XRP through low-friction products, creating a structural bid.
XRP’s rise occurred as the broader crypto market dipped (-0.35%), indicating independent strength. The Altcoin Season Index rose 24.49% over the past week, signalling capital rotation into alts like XRP.
Technically, XRP trades above its 30-day average of $1.42 and 200-day average of $1.28, leaving room for further gains. The move is supported by a favourable market structure and sector-wide risk-on sentiment.
The immediate catalyst is the upcoming monthly escrow unlock of up to 1 billion XRP on October 1, though Ripple typically re-locks most of it. The key technical range is between support at $1.50 (the daily pivot) and resistance at $1.60.
If buying pressure from ETFs continues and price holds $1.50, a breakout toward $1.60 is plausible. However, a failure to hold support, coupled with the unlock, could see a pullback toward the $1.41 level.
The balance between institutional demand and scheduled supply will dictate short-term direction. Traders guide investors to watch for price reaction around the $1.60 level and net exchange flows around the escrow event.
XRP’s fundamentals are underpinned by tangible ETF inflows and solid technicals, outweighing the bearish pressure from negative spot volume delta. The key will be whether institutional demand remains strong enough to offset the monthly supply unlock.
Ripple CEO said $XRP and stablecoins address different cross-border payment needs, with user preferences determining which approach fits; he noted $XRP’s strong growth in the financial industry for certain transactions.
He also rejected the notion that Solana is $XRP’s key rival, saying different assets serve different market roles and strengths. NVIDIA Tokenised bStocks Dips on Negative Macro Sentiment
