Fidelity Bank Soars as Investors Position for Upside

Fidelity Bank Plc saw a 13% increase in its market value as investors continue to target the financial institution’s upside potential.

The bank attracted significant investor buying on the Nigerian Exchange last week, with higher-than-usual trading volumes across sessions.

The Tier-2 lender supported the banking index’s positive performance, with its share price climbing to N21.6 at the close of last week’s trading session, up from N19.1.

The sharp weekly gain, driven by increased activities on Fidelity Bank, lifted the company’s market value to N1.364 trillion.

Trading activity in Fidelity Bank was heavy, suggesting buy-side investors placed strategic bets on the financial stock, boosting its market performance.

In its stock recommendation, equities analysts at Cowry Securities Limited anticipated 40% upside potential holding Fidelity Bank at the current market price.

Fidelity Bank entered Q2 with stronger capital after successfully completing its recapitalisation exercise, with greater transparency and loss-absorption capacity.

In its market update, the investment firm set Fidelity Bank’s share price target at N29.19 and issued a buy recommendation, with the reference market price at N21.6.

Analysts remain positive on Fidelity Bank, with projections showing the financial institution’s earnings per share would climb by about 40%.

The market value of Fidelity Bank Plc’s 63.174 billion outstanding shares increased by 13% week-on-week to N1.364 trillion.  Analysts said enhanced capacity positioned Fidelity Bank to finance key projects and expand its lending.

With total assets of N10.5 trillion and an estimated 8.0% share of the industry’s gross loans as of December 2025, Fidelity Bank is the sixth largest bank in Nigeria, GCR said in its latest rating note.

Over the medium term, the bank plans to leverage its existing international banking licence to enter three new African markets, in a bid to diversify its country-risk exposure and further entrench its competitiveness among rated peers.
