XRP Climbs on Relief Rally, SEC Delays Teucrium’s 2x Short Daily ETF

MarketForces Africa: XRP’s price rose by 1.89% to $1.32 on Friday, closely tracking a broader market rally primarily driven by a relief rally after the Federal Reserve’s expected interest rate hike.

The Federal Reserve raised interest rates by 25 basis points on September 16, its first hike since 2023. Markets interpreted the move as a “mid-cycle adjustment” rather than the start of aggressive tightening, sparking a risk-on rally.

The total crypto market cap rose 2.22%, with Bitcoin up 1.67%. XRP’s nearly identical move was driven by this macro sentiment shift. XRP’s gain was not a result of a coin-specific catalyst but followed the broader market’s positive reaction to clarified monetary policy.

While U.S. spot Bitcoin and Ether ETFs saw combined net outflows of $520 million on September 16, Franklin’s XRP ETF (XRPZ) attracted a $3.5 million inflow. This suggests some capital rotated into XRP as a relative haven amid ETF selling pressure in other majors.

Modest institutional flows provided relative support, differentiating XRP’s performance from larger assets experiencing outflows.

Traders said XRP is consolidating above a crucial support zone between $1.26 and $1.29 20 days average. The structure is at an inflection point. Holding support could build a base for a retest of immediate resistance at $1.34.

A weekly close above $1.29 to confirm short-term bullish bias; a break below $1.26 could trigger a deeper correction toward $1.14.

XRP’s uptick mirrors a macro relief rally, with slight support from defensive ETF flows. Its near-term direction hinges on holding critical technical support.

The US SEC has again postponed the effective date of Teucrium’s 2x Short Daily XRP ETF, pushing the earliest possible launch to October 11, 2026.

Listed Funds Trust filed a post effective amendment with the SEC that pushes back the effectiveness of the Teucrium 2x Short Daily XRP ETF’s registration statement to 11 October 2026, delaying its launch again.

Reports indicate that this is 19th such postponement, with public records showing nearly identical three page filings since April 2025 that simply move the earliest possible trading date forward without changing strategy, fees, or risk language.

A detailed recap on Yahoo Finance explains that the ETF is still not cleared for trading and that October 11 is only the first day it would be legally allowed to start, not a confirmed go-live date, after a long sequence of delays in which Teucrium has repeatedly chosen to push the launch back via short XRP ETF filings.

The Teucrium 2x Short Daily XRP ETF is designed to provide twice the opposite of XRP’s daily performance, giving regulated, exchange-listed access to leveraged downside exposure instead of using offshore perpetual futures or unregulated products.

By contrast, Teucrium’s 2x Long Daily XRP ETF, which offers 2x bullish exposure, has been trading on the New York Stock Exchange since April 2025, and spot XRP ETFs have seen steady inflows, so the repeated short-side delay keeps the listed market tilted toward long exposure despite growing institutional activity in XRP products.

For now, professional investors who want leveraged bearish XRP exposure still rely mainly on derivatives rather than a US listed inverse ETF, which can shape how hedging and speculation around XRP are expressed.

The immediate date to watch is 11 October 2026, when the amended registration can first become effective, but history shows that Teucrium has already shifted this “earliest start” window 19 times.

News summaries highlight that the SEC has allowed a range of XRP products, including spot XRP ETFs and the 2x long fund, while the short ETF keeps slipping, so further filings will signal whether this is primarily Teucrium’s commercial choice or lingering regulatory caution around leveraged inverse crypto exposure.

At the same time, XRP ETF inflow data shows continued demand for long exposure, and any combination of rising flows into XRP funds plus a finally approved short ETF would materially change the toolkit professional traders have for expressing directional views on XRP.
