XRP Rises 3% as Ripple Updates AI Starter Kit for Stripe, Tempo
Ripple (XRP) price inched higher by 3.10% in 24 hours to $1.31 on Thursday, outperforming a modestly green market, driven by a short squeeze as leveraged long positions were liquidated.
The move was amplified by a liquidation cascade in leveraged markets. Data from KCEX shows XRP had $27.82 million in liquidations over 24 hours, with long positions making up about 76% of the total across major assets. This forced covering added fuel to the rally.
The price jump was more about flushing out over-leveraged traders than a fundamental shift, indicating fragile momentum.
Supporting the momentum, Ripple updated its XRP Ledger AI Starter Kit to integrate the Machine Payments Protocol (MPP), a standard created by Stripe and Tempo.
This enables AI agents to autonomously pay for services using XRP and Ripple’s stablecoin, RLUSD, via repeated payment sessions.
This is bullish for XRP as it positions the token at the forefront of machine-to-machine payments, a nascent but high-potential use case that could drive real transactional demand beyond speculative trading.
The total crypto market cap rose 1.89%, with Bitcoin up 1.09%. This provided a supportive tailwind. Additionally, XRP benefits from its formal classification as a “digital commodity” in the SEC/CFTC joint framework, keeping it in a trending regulatory narrative.
The immediate structure hinges on the $1.29–$1.25 zone. Holding above $1.29 (the daily pivot) opens a path to $1.34 (50% Fibonacci retracement).
The key upcoming event is the XRPL Batch feature activation on September 29, which could renew developer interest. The trend is cautiously bullish but needs to hold key support to avoid a retracement.
A daily close below $1.25 would signal weakening momentum and a potential test of deeper support near $1.14. The combination of a short squeeze and sector rotation pushed XRP higher, but the move lacks a fresh, coin-specific catalyst. Sustainability depends on holding technical support.
The Moscow Exchange (MOEX) will launch U.S. dollar-quoted, Ruble-settled perpetual futures for XRP and four other major cryptos on September 22, 2026.
The contracts are for qualified investors and follow strong growth in MOEX’s existing crypto derivatives, which have seen over 72,000 participants and RUB 600 billion in cumulative volume.
This is bullish for XRP because it provides a new, regulated on-ramp for institutional capital in a major market, potentially increasing liquidity and price discovery without direct token custody.
