Trump: Falling Nation of Iran Wants Deal Quickly and Badly
US President Donald Trump says Iran is pushing for a deal with Washington as pressure mounts over the Strait of Hormuz blockade.
In a post on Truth Social on Monday, Trump described Iran as a “failing nation” and said Tehran wants an agreement “quickly and badly.”
“The failing Nation of Iran wants to make a deal, quickly and badly. I will determine whether or not the U.S.A. will choose to engage – The concept of which we are open to,” Trump wrote.
The comments come as a planned meeting in Oman between Iran and Gulf countries to discuss possible agreements on the Strait of Hormuz, scheduled for Monday, was postponed by Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi.
Iran has kept the strategic waterway, which carries about a fifth of global oil, under tight restrictions since June, following US-Israeli strikes. Tehran says its reopening depends on Washington meeting its conditions, while the US has maintained a naval blockade.
Trump has repeatedly said Iran is eager for a deal while insisting the US will decide the terms of any engagement. #Trump: Falling Nation of Iran Wants Deal Quickly and Badly# Trump Tells Zelensky, Stop Hitting Russian Diesel Refineries as Global Prices Surge
