Tech Rivalry: Xiaomi Beats Apple to Market as 18 Fold Launched Ahead of iPhone Fold

Xiaomi has launched the Xiaomi 18 Fold in China on September 7- just two days ahead of Apple’s expected unveiling of its first foldable iPhone on September 9, in a move seen as a direct challenge in the tech rivalry between China and the US.

The 18 Fold is Xiaomi’s first wide-format, passport-style foldable, with a 5.38-inch cover display and a 7.58-inch inner display. It is the first phone powered by Xiaomi’s in-house 3nm XRing O3 chip and features Leica-branded cameras led by a 200MP main sensor and a 6,000mAh battery.

Sales in China have already begun at 10,999 yuan (about $1,638), undercutting Apple’s foldable, which is widely expected to start above $2,000. #Tech Rivalry: Xiaomi Beats Apple to Market as 18 Fold Launched Ahead of iPhone Fold# Apple Beats Q3 Earnings Expectations, EPS Surges 29%
