BTC, ETH, XRP Decline as US Treasury Liquidity Bets Ease
Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Ripple XRP, among other top digital assets, headed south amid profit-taking in the cryptocurrency market on Tuesday.
Sell pressure dragged total cryptocurrency market capitalisation lower by 3.14% to $2.68 trillion, with trading volume declining sharply over the last 24 hours to about $120 million.
Bitcoin is trading at $78.4k, while Ethereum sits at $2,430, reflecting a 2.00% decline, and XRP is hovering at $1.43 after capping above $1.52 earlier in the day.
Bitcoin broke above $80,000 and briefly reached the $81,000 region on Tuesday, erasing roughly three months of prior losses and marking a strong weekly advance.
XRP price has declined to $1.43 at the time of reporting. The token had reached $1.52 after gaining 50% last week in response to the US Treasury’s decision to double down on bond buybacks next month.
The US Treasury announced it would at least double long-dated bond buybacks from 2 billion to 4 billion dollars per operation, aiming to ease stress in the 10–30-year part of the curve and improve liquidity.
Coverage of these expanded buybacks highlights US government debt above 40 trillion dollars and talk of using a roughly $940–950 billion cash pile in the Treasury General Account, feeding fears of “financial repression” and dollar debasement.
Investors rotated into hard assets like gold and Bitcoin as the dollar index slipped, while spot BTC ETFs drew strong net inflows and billions of short positions were liquidated, further amplifying the move.
Ethereum is hovering around $2340 as crypto market sentiment continues to decline after six significant rallies that began last week. All top cryptocurrencies recorded positive price movement ahead of the US Clarity Act in Sept.
The rally was a macro-driven spike rather than a slow grind up, which typically brings both opportunity and elevated short-term volatility risk. #BTC, ETH, XRP Decline as US Treasury Liquidity Bets Ease# BTC, ETH, BNB Rally Boost Global Crypto Market Cap by 6%
