Cardano Price Tops $0.19 on Aggressive Whale Accumulation
Cardano (ADA) price topped $0.19 on Monday following an additional 2% gain, slightly outperforming a flat Bitcoin, driven by investor anticipation for its next major upgrade phase and aggressive whale accumulation.
ADA rose by 2.5% to $0.1938 with about $7.1 billion in market capitalisation. The price surge is attributed to renewed confidence in Cardano’s technical roadmap, as the network shifts focus to the multi-phase Dijkstra era following the recent van Rossem hard fork.
The price rise aligns with news that Cardano is pivoting to its next scalability phase, the Dijkstra era, confirmed by its development Organisation, Intersect.
This follows the van Rossem hard fork completed on July 18, which upgraded core performance. Investors are pricing in the long-term roadmap, which aims to boost transaction capacity through features like Nested Transactions, targeted for mainnet by late 2026.
The move reflects a vote of confidence in Cardano’s research-driven development cycle rather than a reaction to a completed event.
On-chain data from Santiment shows whales (wallets holding 100M–1B ADA) aggressively bought over 240 million ADA in the days leading up to August 3, increasing their collective holdings to over 14.3 billion tokens.
Concurrently, ADA’s move correlated with a modest rise in Bitcoin, indicating it caught a beta tailwind in a generally fearful market (Fear & Greed Index at 36).
Large, confident buyers are providing a foundation of support, amplifying positive sentiment from the development news. Sustained holding by these whale addresses; a distribution of their holdings could remove a key support pillar.
Technically, ADA faces immediate resistance in the $0.190–$0.195 zone, which aligns with a liquidity cluster. The 61.8% Fibonacci retracement level at $0.1886 now acts as near-term support.
The 7-day relative strength index at 77.7 signals short-term overbought conditions, suggesting the rally may need to consolidate. The bullish structure remains intact but is entering a zone where profit-taking is likely.
A daily close above $0.195 would confirm strength for a run toward the $0.208 extension target. A break below $0.1808 would invalidate the near-term bullish pattern.
ADA’s rise is fueled by a credible technical narrative and concrete capital inflows from large holders, creating a constructive setup. Cardano and Injective have activated a live Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) connection on testnet.
This establishes the first direct, on-chain rail for native, bidirectional transfers of ADA and INJ without relying on third-party custodial bridges. The integration leverages IBC’s security model, which uses each chain’s light clients instead of external validators.
This is a bullish long-term development for ADA because it is a critical step toward secure interoperability with the Cosmos ecosystem and over 115 other chains, potentially unlocking new liquidity and use cases.
However, it remains a testnet initiative with no mainnet timeline, meaning tangible user benefits are not immediate. US Equities Sold Off, European Markets Diverge as Sentiment Shifts
