Access Plc. Tanks as Investors Exit Positions Ahead of Earnings
Access Holdings Plc lost 10% of its market value, which is about N158 billion, as investors exited positions ahead of the first-half 2026 earnings release, with the regulatory deadline approaching.
Data from the Nigerian Exchange (NGX) revealed that the financial services company’s share price closed at N26.3 from N29.2 at the beginning of the trading session last week.
Reflecting a notable pattern of off-market deals, the group experienced huge trading volumes throughout last week, but most of the transactions were led by sell-side investors in the market.
The market value of Access Holdings Plc.’s 54.375 billion outstanding shares on the Nigerian bourse reduced by 9.9315% week-on-week to N1.430 trillion.
Stock market analysis indicates that Access Holdings closed the July trading session 27% below its highest valuation attained in the last 52 weeks on NGX.
In its stock recommendation for the week, Cowry Asset Limited sees 40% upside potential in Access Holdings Plc, with target price set at N36.50 per share.
Latest regulatory disclosure suggests Access Holdings will maintain a late earnings release, a pattern that has been persistent following its aggressive growth-by-acquisition strategy.
Following the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) order, the group has been forced to scale back expansion, which has had near-zero effects on shareholders’ wealth.
Last week, Access Holdings announced that its Board of Directors meeting has been scheduled to hold on August 27, 2026, to consider and approve, among other matters, the Group’s Audited Interim Financial Statements for the half year ended June 30, 2026.
The official disclosure indicated that the Group’s Audited Interim Financial Statements, once approved by the Board, will be submitted to the Central Bank of Nigeria for approval before release to The Exchange and the investing public.
Access Holdings said the closed period earlier announced in respect of transactions in its securities will remain in effect until 24 hours after the release of the Group’s Audited Interim Financial Statements.
