BUA Foods Drops 10% after N28 Dividend Payment
BUA Foods Plc’s market value declined by 10% after the food producer paid its shareholders a N28 dividend per share at the annual general meeting held in mid-July, 2026.
The food producer’s share price declined to N845.10 amidst thin trading volume relative to its 18 billion outstanding shares in the stock market.
The market, investors, and equities analysts are anticipating the group’s earnings release to drive fresh re-rating, a pattern that has continued following the release of its financial scorecards.
The company’s share price, which reached an all-time high of N967 on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), has since then retreated on profit-taking and post-dividend payment markdown.
The company has just concluded its 2025 annual shareholders’ meeting, where a N28 final dividend was approved. On 15th July 2026, dividends were paid electronically to shareholders whose names appear on the Register of Members as of 4th June 2026.
The company paid N504 billion as dividends, and its founder, Abdul Samad Rabiu and immediate family, with about 95.26% shareholdings, took more than N480 billion as dividend.
At the current price, BUA Foods is trading at about 13% below its 52-week high in the market. The market value of the company’s 18 billion outstanding shares declined to N15.211 trillion, according to stock market data.
Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, said the conglomerate is ramping up investments across Nigeria’s food value chain to boost local production, ease food inflation and strengthen the country’s food security.
Rabiu disclosed this after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Abuja, where he also reaffirmed BUA Group’s commitment to expanding investments, creating jobs and supporting the administration’s economic reform agenda.
The billionaire industrialist said the company’s ongoing expansion projects, expected to be completed next year, would transform BUA Foods into Nigeria’s largest food business, significantly increasing production capacity and helping to moderate food prices. #BUA Foods Drops 10% after N28 Dividend Payment# BUA Foods’ Expansion Strategy Signals Long-Term Growth
