Moniepoint Disburses Over N1tn to SMEs in 2025

Moniepoint Inc. has disbursed over N1 trillion in credit to thousands of small and medium-scale enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria in 2025, marking a significant milestone in the country’s financial inclusion journey.

This achievement is a testament to Moniepoint’s commitment to empowering Nigerian businesses, particularly those in the informal sector, which often struggle to access traditional banking services.

The fintech company, which operates as Nigeria’s largest merchant acquirer, processed N412 trillion in transaction value and handled over 14 billion transactions in 2025, powering about 80% of in-person payments nationwide.

Moniepoint’s microfinance banking unit leveraged alternative data points, such as transaction histories and payment behaviors, to extend credit to businesses that traditional banks often overlook .

According to Moniepoint’s 2025 Year in Review report, businesses that accessed credit experienced an average growth of 36%, highlighting the positive impact of financial inclusion on Nigeria’s economy.

The company’s services have been utilized by over 6 million active businesses, ranging from provision stores and supermarkets to building materials sellers .

Moniepoint’s success can be attributed to its innovative approach to lending, which focuses on transaction data and payment patterns rather than traditional credit scores. This approach has enabled the company to fill the credit gap left by traditional banks, which often prioritize corporate lending and government securities .

The company’s growth has been supported by significant investments, including a $200 million Series C funding round led by Development Partners International, Google’s Africa Investment Fund, Visa, and the International Finance Corporation . #Moniepoint Disburses Over N1tn to SMEs in 2025#
